Friday, August 20th, 2010

(Fort Myers, Fla. – August 20, 2010) – The Cosmopolitan Summer Party, held August 12 at Bistro 41 and co-hosted by Opici Wine & Spirits, Grandeur Magazine and plastic surgeon Dr. Drew Kreegel raised $3,000 to support Community Cooperative Ministries Incorporated’s (CCMI) mission to feed the hungry this summer.

Bistro 41’s Cheryl Robinson, Kim Rice, Heather Smith and Jay McAuley toast with the four cosmo recipes attendees could sample at the event.

Bistro 41’s Cheryl Robinson, Kim Rice, Heather Smith and Jay McAuley toast with the four cosmo recipes attendees could sample at the event.

Held as a preview to the annual Becoming Cosmopolitan fundraiser for CCMI, the nearly 50 ladies in attendance had the opportunity to sample and vote for their favorite cosmopolitan drink recipe to be featured at that event and win some “cosmopolitan” prizes including jewelry, designer clothing, weekend getaways and facial care.

The event began as a way for Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery to celebrate its being featured in a special plastic surgery section in Cosmopolitan magazine. “We wanted a fun way to celebrate with the community and it was a natural fit to tie into the popular ‘Becoming Cosmopolitan’ event,” says Dr. Drew Kreegel. “Working with CCMI and the other sponsors, we were able to team up and make this a pre-party of sorts for the larger event this fall and help to feed the hungry now and later.”

Becoming Cosmopolitan is an annual women’s only event featuring shopping, gourmet food and drink and live and silent auctions to raise money for CCMI, and is slated for October 21.  Dr. Kreegel will also participate in this event.

Sun Safety: Is your skin at risk?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Complimentary skin cancer screenings available on May 26

(Fort Myers, Fla. – May 13, 2010) – One of the perks of living in Florida is the ability to soak up the sun all year round. But too much of this good thing can lead to painful sunburns, premature aging, and skin cancer.  According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. with two million people being diagnosed each year. In fact, the foundation estimates that 40 – 50 percent of Americans age 65 or older will be diagnosed with skin cancer at least once.

final bWhile not all types are fatal, some can leave serious disfigurations behind. Early detection and intervention are important to catching cancer early and treating it to minimize scarring and more serious impacts. In addition to basic preventive measures, it’s recommended people visit a physician at least once per year for a professional skin examination.

“Age alone does not necessarily encourage the likelihood of developing skin cancer, however, the older we are, the more collective time we’ve spent in the sun. It’s this increased lifetime exposure that increases the risk of finding cancer” says Dr. Drew Kreegel. “So, it’s especially important for Southwest Floridians to get their skin checked by a doctor, not just because of our year-round sunshine, but also because of age.”

In recognition of May as Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Kreegel will host complimentary skin cancer screenings at his practice, Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery, on May 26 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 239-343-9777.

“A skin cancer screening should be a part of everyone’s annual healthcare exams,” Dr. Kreegel says.

Refine Your Skin’s Appearance in 30 Minutes or Less

Friday, April 9th, 2010

April 17 Seminar Covers Fast, Easy Treatments to Improve Skin’s Tone and Condition

(Fort Myers, Fla. – April 9, 2010) – Spring cleaning isn’t just for your home anymore. It’s also the perfect time to brighten and tighten your complexion. Area residents can learn how to rejuvenate their skin at a free beauty event at Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery on April 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

final bSimple aesthetic treatments like laser facials, Botox Cosmetic®, peels and microdermabrasion offer a quick fix – they can be done in 30 minutes or less and yield great results. Laser facials can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin by removing brown spots and discolorations, fine lines and wrinkles.  It also encourages new collagen growth revealing skin that’s not only fresh, but tight and firm as well.

“Laser facials are extremely effective immediately and have minimal healing time,” says Sharon Grantham, ARNP. “They can also be used for facial hair removal. If several treatments are performed, the results can be quite lasting.”

Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are two of the most popular aesthetic procedures for fine lines, wrinkles and minor skin imperfections. Peels are used to rejuvenate the outer layers of the skin. Like laser facials, they reveal a fresh new layer of skin and encourage collagen remodeling.

Microdermabrasion sloughs off skin imperfections with tiny crystals that are passed over skin. While it several sessions may be needed, the results can be dramatic and very rewarding.

All of these procedures will be reviewed at the April 17 seminar. Following the seminar, attendees can experience peels and microdermabrasion at special prices. Light refreshments and prizes will also be available. The seminar will be held at Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery’s office at 16410 HealthPark Commons Drive, Ste. 200, Fort Myers.

Reservations are required to attend each event and can be made by calling 239-343-9777.

Kreegel Skin Event Promises More for your Beauty Buck

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Find out how which beauty products are REALLY worth the money at

Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery’s December 4 Event

kreegel(Fort Myers, Fla. – November 20, 2009) — Do you ever feel like the beauty market is flooded with too many skin care products making miraculous claims? If so, each time you hear about the latest product craze, you probably wonder if it works and is worth the money. And like millions of Americans, you’ve probably spent more money and time than you would have liked trying and rejecting beauty products that didn’t work for you.

“Despite the differences in price or so-called ‘secret ingredients,’ most products do the same thing,” says Stefanie Neff, a licensed esthetician at Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery. “You don’t really see a difference until you move from cosmeceuticals, like those sold over to the counter in grocery and big box stores, to pharmaceuticals, which require a prescription from your doctor.”

The main difference between these products is the end result, according to Stefanie. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that skin care products that work deeper in your skin than the upper layers called the epidermis be classified as drugs because they change the structure of your skin. These are pharmaceuticals and sold only by prescription.

Cosmeceuticals are the over the counter products sold everywhere from your local drug store to high end department stores. And whether it costs a few dollars or a few hundred dollars, a cosmeceutical may make you appear younger by doing two things – moisturizing your skin and reflecting light using shimmery ingredients. Exfoliants may provide additional benefit by removing dead skin cells, and skin lighteners like licorice extract may fade browns spots. Touted antioxidants like green tea, pomegranate, blueberry and retinol may help prevent free radicals from damaging your skin cells and harming collagen and elastin – both vital for youthful looking skin. But, in most cases, cosmeceuticals won’t actually improve the skin itself – just its appearance.

There are products that can truly help improve skin, though. To find out which products and ingredients can help with your advanced skin issue, plan to attend Kreegel Aesthetic Surgery’s skin care product event:

Date:               Friday, December 4
